La Barretina catalana s una lligadura tradicional catalana de llana, en forma de bossa, habitualment de color vermell o morat, normalment de dos a quatre pams, a voltes amb un rivet negre a l'extrem. En les seves diferents variants s'estenia per gran part dels pobles mariners cristians del Mediterrani tals com Catalunya, l'Alta Proven a, Sic lia, C rsega, Sardenya, part de N pols, part dels Balcans i Portugal. A Catalunya els homes en van dur fins al segle XX, especialment a les zones rurals. ---------- La Barretina catalana es un tocado tradicional catal n de lana, en forma de bolsa, habitualmente de color rojo o morado, normalmente de dos a cuatro palmos, a veces con un ribete oscuro en el extremo. En sus diferentes variantes la encontramos en gran parte de los pueblos marineros cristianos del Mediterr neo tales como Catalu a, la Alta Provenza, Sicilia, C rcega, Cerde a, parte de N poles, parte de los Balcanes y en Portugal. En Catalu a los hombres la llevaron hasta el siglo XX, especialmente en las zonas rurales. ---------- A barretina is a traditional hat made of wool, in the form of a bag, usually red or purple, with a size of 18 to 32 inches, sometimes with a black trimming along the edge. It was frequently worn, in all its different shapes, by men in many Christian cultures along the Mediterranean shores, such as Catalonia, Haute Provence, Sicily, Corsica, Sardinia, part of Naples, part of the Balkans and Portugal. Catalan men used to wear it until the 20th century, especially in rural areas.
